Samadhi Rush Episode 202// On Podcasting, Practice and Living the Yoga

Hello, dear family.

We reached the milestone of 200 episodes of this podcast smack in the middle of a series and smack in the middle of what feels like eternal international upheaval. I want to mark both of these vastly different moments in time with one theme: Inhabiting truth; Embodying your word; What you do matters.

There are aspects of this practice that appear on the surface to draw us away from the stuff of life: we close our eyes and meditate; we turn our attention within; we chant and connect with the essence of love. However, this appearance is only that; the practice of yoga (and indeed samadhi) invites to to more fully participate in the living realm by inviting us to get over ourselves and fully realize our genuine/eternal connection with each other. There will be times where this appears to be a withdrawal or a retreat; may it be the kind that invites us to engage more fully with this (as Mary Oliver so beautifully writes) “this one wild and precious life”.

In today’s podcast, I’m sharing a few thoughts on using our voices as yogis, a few recommendations for reading and a piece I shared awhile back called “I am this way on purpose.” It is a teaching manifesto, but also an invitation for you to fully step into this practice, this life and to make it your sincere offering.

Here’s a link to my post on being openly, truly, authentically anti-racist.
